Creation is a provocative exploration of what it means to be free. Set in a dystopian future, several creative individuals remind us all never to take for granted the product of our own work and imagination. Creation is inspired by Ayn Rand’s Anthem and Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go.

..Okay, so I did something I don't usually do and grabbed this without reading the novella's summary. Usually, I don't do this, but I took a chance, and I have a lot to say!

Novellas usually aren't my thing. I'm always a little scared that the story won't grab me fast enough and that I won't have enough time to enjoy it before it's over once it does. That said, "Creation" far exceeded my expectations. I was instantly pulled into the story. I grabbed this novella earlier this evening and started reading about two hours ago. I couldn't put it down. I'm usually not a fan of first-person narration either, but I didn't even notice because I was too busy wondering what was going to happen next. The characters were wonderful. I'm not going to reveal the story because I think a few people have commented on it, but it's definitely worth a read. It actually scared me a little. Loved it. Check it out if you have the chance!

Creation edition by Kat Mellon Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Creation is one of the most beautiful and inspiring books I have ever read. It leaves you with a happy, satisfied feeling - I love this novella. Definitely recommended.
The plot is intriguing and the characters are interesting. Though I don't usually read novellas, I'm glad that I took the time for this one.
This is a thought-provoking story. While it is similar in tone to Anthem or The Giver in its speculation about control of talents in a utopian society, it includes some unique twists. I was wondering where I WANTED it to go as I read, and the eventual resolution is a satisfying choice of the possibilities. It is definitely worth your time.
This is a beautiful story and I can feel Anthem leading through the pages, less so the influence of Never Let Me Go, but the short sentences that develop into longer more prosaic ones, just beautiful and inspirational. Wonderful story as well! I only wish it didn't have to end!
The first half of this book is so confusing, it wasn't until about 60% that the pieces started clicking together. I understand that with the amount of pages there really wasn't room for the world building but I wish I understood more.
This could certainly be turned into a novel and a great one at that. The writing was excellent.
I don't know how to review this book, because to write about what the core of what the book meant to me would be to reveal the ending and be extremely spoilerish. And you wouldn't want that with this book, seriously.

I was fascinated with the world Mellon created, the sense of the surreal in her writing and the way it makes you look at the world with fresh new eyes - a little Pratchett-ish in that sense, only not in a humourous way.

It's beautiful prose. *tears*
This novella was not my usual cup of tea, but I still liked it. The world Kat created, a society in which the people didn’t know about anything outside Creation, is simple in all its complexity. She successfully creates a world where people work to create every piece of literature, every painting, every sheet of music that the outside enjoys. This piece has the feel of dystopia that I think most readers might enjoy.
