JEIKLEE, another fascinating paranormal novel by author Makala Thomas, is an epistolary tale that takes you into a world of supernatural and illusion. It's the second of this author's novels I've read, and each time I found myself pleasantly entertained.Jeiklee discovers that his mother has a special relationship with Count Dracula. Also he discovers that Count Dracula is not that bad of a guy after all. He's cordial and romantic. Through Jeiklee’s efforts with the aid of his cohort McKenzie, they try to reignite the flames of lost love. A fantasy-full ride takes the reader into the magical lives of spirit characters, namely Spirit McKenzie, and archetypical vampires. I liked the humor and that there was not too much bloodletting. If you've ever read Bram Stoker's Count Dracula, you will appreciate this creative offshoot.

I listened to this story on the kindle with the text-to-speech function while driving, so I can't comment on the grammar but this story is about a teenager, who recently discovered that he was adopted into a normal human family that was never meant to be in. After meeting his adoptive sister, he is pulled into a world of magic. The author has created a story with complex characters, all of whom have a back story of their own. She even brings in traditional fictional characters (Dracula) and re-writes their narrative. This is a story you will enjoy!
Wow there was a lot going on in this book! Multiple romances, friendships, personal and relationship growth and exploration, villains who turned out not to be villains and good guys who turned out not to be good guys! One thing in particular that I liked was how the back story was shared, I don't want to go into too much detail and give things away but I thought the way the author showed us the history and relationships of certain characters was done in an interesting and unique way!
Young and old readers will be captivated by the adventures of the teenage protagonist, Jeiklee who lives in a world filled with spirits, spells, witches and mortal humans. For people who are familiar with the prolific writer, Makala Thomas, readers will be swept away by the fast-moving story and the realistic dialogue found in Jeiklee. This time, the protagonist, foster kid, Jeiklee must deal with an assortment of strange, yet charismatic characters, including a flirtatious witch known as “Spirit,” Count Dracula, his parents, among others.
You’ll want to keep reading this long and fascinating tale that has many surprises that will keep the reader turning the digital pages long after midnight. This is an magical tale that will leave readers turning off the television set to follow the adventures of Jeiklee who is on a journey of discovery. The writer is full of imagination, and although the subject matter is supernatural, readers won’t be scared since you won’t read about blood and gore --thankfully. You’ll be taken to places of wonder, including the Forest of Fear, meet a different kind of Count Dracula, and experience the world of wizardry that will make you swear that witches and vampires are as real as the wind and the ocean.
